Grantham House
The Grantham House project involved the complete refurbishment and extension of a 1960’s Local Authority built Sheltered housing scheme to form 27 apartments and two family houses.
Other work involved the complete internal reorganisation of the internal layout to create apartments of a wide range sizes. The original Wardens block was demolished and a pair of semi-detached family houses with private gardens was built using the same architectural language.
To improve the buildings dated appearance the poor quality brickwork was externally over-clad with an insulated monocouche render system. This gives a maintenance free finish in addition to dramatically improving the buildings energy efficiency. Colour was introduced to sides of the bay windows to subtlety reference other roads in the locality such as Observatory Street.
