Edwardian House in North Oxford

Having purchased this Period house in North Oxford our clients engaged us to undertake the Architectural work for a comprehensive refurbishment and extension of the property.

Work included excavating the existing partial basement to form new living accommodation, converting the loftspace to form a new bedroom and bathroom and replacing the bay window to the front of the house.  At the rear of the house a large contemporary extension has been constructed to accommodate an open-plan kitchen living space.  Period details were carefully restored and the whole house has benefitted from complete re-wiring, re-plumbing and redecoration.

To ensure the new additions did not compromise light levels within original rooms a series of light tunnels and sections of glass floor bring daylight down into the heart of the house.  A dramatic two storey high window in the side elevation floods light into the stairwell.

This project has retained the best of the original Edwardian house whilst creating much-needed living space and providing our clients with all the conveniences of a modern home.
