“We chose Riach for our project for a number of reasons. They were local and thus familiar with the area, the builders, the council and had worked on some beautiful properties we had seen over the last few years. We have been extremely happy with the result and have found working with Kieron and Hannah easy and highly productive. They have dealt with issues in a professional and efficient manner and we had no problems entrusting delicate negotiations with council and design decisions to the experience of Riach. We would no doubt use them again and recommend them highly.”
At Riach Architects we believe our designs and projects speak for themselves, however, we always like to receive kind words from our satisfied clients.
This project entailed the restoration and remodelling of a substantial Victorian house to recapture its former grandeur. The house had previously been divided into flats and was in a neglected condition with damp and decay throughout. Our client’s aspirations were to undertake a top to toe renovation and to reimagine the internal layouts to provide a beautiful home suitable for modern family living.
The proposals sought to remodel the interior to form large, open-plan spaces with plenty of natural light and a cohesive flow through the house. The staircore was a focal point for the design with a new curved staircase and additional windows to create a light core to the house.
The fabric of the property was upgraded, including replacing the roof, replacing stone work and upgrading its thermal performance throughout. The decrepit timber conservatory was lovingly recreated to match historic details and it now forms a fantastic relaxation space for the house.
Riach Architects engaged closely with the clients to create a cohesive and carefully planned interior scheme which highlights the traditional characteristics of the Victorian property, such as the beautiful sash windows, high ceilings and well-proportioned rooms, whilst maintaining a modern and elegant aesthetic.
The project was delivered on budget and on time with a collaborative approach adapted by the design and construction team.
