Carbon Neutral Home for Summertown Stars
New Pavilion
Riach Architects have worked closely with Summertown Stars Football Club to develop and agree a detailed brief leading to the evolving design for a new football pavilion. The club is located within Cutteslowe Park in North Oxford and this year won the Charter Development Club Award for South East England.
The new structure will comprise changing and match day facilities as well as social and committee rooms to support the clubs role as an important community focus/amenity.
The project is being designed as a sustainable exemplar and the aim is to achieve a zero carbon building, employing sustainable technologies such as rainwater harvesting, photo voltaic cells, woodchip boiler and a highly insulated envelope to reduce reliance on fossil fuels for heating and lighting.
Riach Architects are currently in consultation with the members of the club to finalise the detailed design, and hope to submit a planning application early in 2010.
